Real Ale Festival - ChicagoThis was a truly great festival. Unfortunately it's gone for good as Ray Daniels has finally given up and sold the equipment. This festival ended because they could no longer get a venue with a liquor license at an affordable price. Shame on the City of Chicago. That's a major part of the reason our World of Beer Festival is no longer in Milwaukee. |

Great Lakes Brew Fest/Schooner Homebrewing ChampionshipAt Lake Festival Park in Racine It is very homebrew friendly. Last year the Schooner Homebrewing Championship had over 500 entries. It is judged the morning of the fest and medals handed out along with samples at the fest. Rock Bottom in Milwaukee brews the BOS and we save a keg for this event. The homebrew portion of the fest is a crowd favorite and even receiving accolades in Beer Advocate. Clubs from Oshkosh, Milwaukee, Kenosha , Racine, two from Northern Illinois, Minnesota Homebrewers Association, Bay de Noc Brewers (UP of Mich) and Brewers on the Lake (Holland MI) served beer last year. But there is still room for more. The participating clubs need to bring at least 10 gallons of beer and then will receive 4 workers passes to serve (yes they let you drink + you get in early). Just bring beer, serving device. pop up tent if you have one, and GLBF provides bar, ice ... |
