Real Ale Festival - ChicagoThis was a truely great festival. Unfortunately it's gone for good as Ray Daniels has finally given up and sold the equipment. This festival ended because they could no longer get a venue with a liquor license at an affordable price. Shame on the City of Chicago. That's a major part of the reason our World of Beer Festival is no longer in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee Beer Festival (formerly incorporating the Blessing of the Bock)Cancelled - John Zutz has thrown in the towel on this long standing festival. Changes in the industry and factors in his personal life combined to put an end to this fun festival that will be missed. Blessing of the BockThis was originated by Lakefront Brewery. Now
that John Zutz has retired the Milwaukee Beer Festival Jim Klisch has
decided to take control and continue the tradition. Back to
the original concept! |

Great Lakes Brew Fest/Schooner Homebrewing ChampionshipSeptember 19 at Lake Festival Park in Racine Welcome to Homebrew Island!!! It is very homebrew friendly. Last year the Schooner Homebrewing Championship had over 500 entries. It is judged the morning of the fest and medals handed out along with smaples at the fest. Last year the Rock Bottom in Milwaukee brewed the BOS and we saved 10 gallons for September. The homebrew portion of the fest is a crowd favorite and even recieving acolades in Beer Advocate.. Clubs from Oshkosh, Milwaukee, Kenosha , Racine and two from Northern Illinois served beer last year. This year we will welcome the third and fourth state to join us as the Minnesota Homebrewers Association, Bay de Noc Brewers (UP of Mich) and Brewers on the Lake (Holland MI) weigh anchor on our island. Also internet group MABC will join in. But there is still room for more. The joining clubs need to bring at least 10 gallons of beer and then will receive 4 workers passes (yes they let you drink + you get in early). Just bring beer, serving device. pop up tent if you have one, and GLBF provides bar, ice ... I have been fortunate enough to attend "club nite" at an NHC, and have been wanting to bring that same enthusiasm and wackiness to GLBF. This is our chance. We have a theme- "Home brew Island" . Bring your Hawaian shirts, yard flamingos, fake palm trees, pirate outfits, grass skirts, coconut bras and of course leis!!!...... Also (possibly) new is a Friday night event. Not judging but beer related. We are efforting something special, but more to come on that.
