World of Beer Homebrew Competition
The Milwaukee Monster Mash
WINNERS & AWARDS
In early May, The Beer Barons of Milwaukee Homebrew Club hosted their 1st Milwaukee Monster Mash homebrew competition, a BJCP-sanctioned event. Fifty-three entries from Wisconsin & Illinois were dropped off at three Milwaukee-area homebrew shops, including The Purple Foot, Frugal Homebrewer - West Allis and The Marketbasket, with a fourth drop-off point added late.
On Saturday, May 6, Jerry Uthemann, Mike Schwartz, Jeff Enders, Dan Schlosser, Kelly Kramer, and John O’Brien judged entries in six different BJCP categories: Bock; Porter; IPA, Wheat/Weisse & Weizen; Belgian or French Ale, and Smoked or Barrel-aged.
Winners were picked in each of the 6 categories, with a “taste-off” for Best of Show. There were many excellent entries, with several scoring in the high 30's and a few getting 40's.
